So, university is real. I can’t lie this year does feel like a year-long holiday but there are moments, well specifically during this semester when I think, “Oh yeah, I actually I have to study”. Lol! And these are moments filled with big sighs. I almost wasn’t going to write this post as I have SO much uni work and revision to do, but, I’m going to do a super quick post for the sake of the archives and documenting purposes!
Here are my Top 5 Weekend Highlights:
1. I saw the most beautiful crater lake, EVER! The volcano is called Quilotoa and the lake sits at the top! None of the photos below have been edited so you can imagine how much more beautiful it was in real life. We arrived at such a great time (around 11am) because about 30 minutes after seeing the lake, the infamous, thick, Quito fog began to roll in and covered everything, so definitely grateful for the time at which we arrived.
2. I tried the famous Ecuadorian delicacy – cuy – it’s guinea pig (came with boiled potatoes and tomatoes & onion salad). It basically tasted like crispy pork, but, I think the thought of it being guinea pig is what sends shivers up many spines. Anyways, it was ok, it wasn’t horrible but I wouldn’t run back to have it again. All part of the experience, ey!
3. During the drive to Quilotoa, the roads were super windy but, the views were stunning! There were mountains, hills and so much lush nature surrounding us – it was great!
4. I kissed a llama (almost – it wasn’t interested – :/) – it was so cute and calm too!
